Thanks to the COM352 students for contributing a bunch of new pages! I'll be moving these pages into the main area of the wiki soon.
User talk:John?
From UMassWiki
Hello, and welcome to UMassWiki!
We suggest you read the following pages to learn your way around the wiki:
- UMassWiki:Guidelines - important!
- Help:Contents - lots of editing tips, including a 1-page printable cheat sheet
If you're here because you're participating in a class that uses the wiki, these two pages are very important to read:
And welcome to Class:Section 71 - ENG 112 - Spring 2007! Don't forget to explore rest of the wiki as well. You're welcome to edit anything on the wiki -- not just pages for your class.
Important: Since you're going to be editing pages for your class, the following two articles are very important:
You need to understand how to make subpages so your stuff ends up in the right place. Aside from all that, if you just want a quick-start guide on things like how to make text bold or how to make line breaks between paragraphs, try this downloadable and printable Cheatsheet. [edit] from Steph?
Hello John? (excellent taste) and welcome to the course wiki! Don't neglect to read through the information and follow the links provided above. I included the code for "Table of Contents" so you can copy it if/when you want. Also, don't forget to check out changes to the Homepage! steph (COM) 11:32, 18 February 2007 (EST)
[edit] wiki editing
You're almost "in". Fix your User Page, would ya? Move that discussion comment to this page, and get the Quiz 3 results link posted like Annerrs did. Consider it a test. When you get all of this done, let the wikiteam know at Not so fast. Then post a message to alert me on my userpage, ok? steph (COM) 20:58, 11 March 2007 (EDT)
- Pweeze? :-) Cute! Yes, but come on and get with the program! No signature to your "Alert" message and why is the "good taste" comment subheaded under MY area instead of TheFlyingScotsman? See, I do not want to have to police your team to make sure you actually attend to each and every detail: the more I have to do that, the less editing you are performing. That, or phane88 is gonna have to doublecheck on you, or someone else, and that truly defeats the purpose of being an editor. Do you follow? steph (COM) 09:33, 13 March 2007 (EDT)
Please note that I have responded to the Wiki Team's initial Proposal. steph (COM) 21:25, 2 April 2007 (EDT)
[edit] fixing other people's mistakes
Yes! Please do move work to the designated places. AND (the trickier part), make sure the author has the correct link from their User Page. (I don't know how many people did the linking that they are supposed to do; if they did not do it yet, don't worry, but if they did, please replace the link so they don't have a dead one and wonder what the heck happened.) ;-) steph (COM) 14:17, 4 April 2007 (EDT)
- Your impression is correct. Can you move the incorrect postings to independent pages to the common page? THAT is where I will do grading. Then change any existing links? On Tuesday in Goodell we'll work on those who have not yet created a link at all, k? steph (COM) 09:20, 6 April 2007 (EDT)
[edit] including mine!
LOL! you go,John?, keep me on my toes. :-)
[edit] Reflection l
Hey John, can you please email me your reflection letter for unit 2 to phane_88@yahoo.com so we can put it in the magazine. Thanks and please hurryPhane88 19:23, 28 April 2007 (EDT)
[edit] Misplaced Pages
Please do not remove the {{MisplacedPage}} stamp from pages in the wrong namespace until they have been moved to the proper place. There is documentation about namespaces and subpages in Help:Contents. If you're adding personal work, it should probably be a subpage of your user page, but if you're not sure, ask Steph where it should go. Thanks. --GMorehou(talk) 22:01, 30 March 2007 (EDT)
- Hey there, thanks for moving your pages. If you give me the go-ahead on my talk page I'll go ahead and nuke the old ones, or you can just list them for deletion by putting {{SpeedyDelete}} at the top (not surrounded by nowiki tags of course). Thanks again! --GMorehou(talk) 00:44, 31 March 2007 (EDT)
[edit] superduper!
NOW you start to show off your wiki-editing potential! :-) Very nice. steph (COM) 16:28, 2 April 2007 (EDT)
[edit] Heyyy
heyy, i think i may have erased your reflection letter. I was trying to copy the format for the link. sorry, i hope you can fix it. Jessica 12:00, 10 April 2007 (EDT)
[edit] Heyyy 2
- Heyyy! Show Jessica how to retrieve something through the history. Did you figure that out? I think I was supposed to show you. Anyway, it's 3 am in Sydney and I woke up but will probably not stay awake to harass all of you. Do me a favor, k? In case no administrator from the Writing Program shows up (that was the last tentative plan for today), help people get started, would ya? Pull the outline up on the main screen.
- I'm also going to ask Dan and Jessica to help folks get motivated and finish today's work, so that 'the duty' is spread around a bit. Thanks. Souvenirs for all! (Ask folks what they want, they can include that in their messages to me.) :-) steph (COM) 13:21, 10 April 2007 (EDT)
[edit] astronomy
How'd it go, man? I was reading about the early days of that science on the flight over here. Probably not relevant to your exam, but interesting to me. Hope you did well, and thanks for helping folks. steph (COM) 01:08, 11 April 2007 (EDT)
[edit] on my toes!
They're kinda starting to hurt ouch, yowee! :-) Not really. Yeah, I knew the 17th was a UMass Monday but spaced it when I posted the due date. So I'll see ya in class tomorrow with all kinds of work for me, right?
I just noticed the question about posting everyone's work to the Numbed Mind page; yes, please. (Maybe you already had by the time the homework was assigned? I have yet to check that out...)
Your astro exams do sound hard! I read about the transition from astrology to astronomy while flying back-n-forth to Sydney; fascinating stuff. I hope you can pull off the A, it would be quite an achievement, huh? steph (COM) 16:24, 18 April 2007 (EDT)
[edit] Advertising
If you mean User:John?/House Painting, that's just a subpage of your user page, perfectly normal and in the right place. If you want, you can also buy a sidebar ad on UmassWiki for pretty cheap. See UMassWiki:Advertising and e-mail me at info {at} umasswiki {d0t} com for info on a local business discount, or just do the 15-day special, that's about as cheap as it gets. --GMorehou(talk) 02:00, 19 April 2007 (EDT)
- Ah, yeah, you did. I deleted User:John. The wiki has historically had some issues with titles including question marks, so you may have found a remaining bug. --GMorehou(talk) 17:11, 20 April 2007 (EDT)
[edit] heyy!
I need your unit one paper for the class magazine. Please email it to me as soon as possible. my email is jlbenoit@student.umass.edu Thanks so much!! Jessica 16:46, 29 April 2007 (EDT)
[edit] I FOUND TOM
We were looking at the right place the other day. Looks like some of what he's done might overlap (?) with what some of the rest of you have done? Please coordinate! steph (COM) 17:14, 5 May 2007 (EDT)
[edit] another wikiteam message
Hey. Idea: busting up chronology. Posted on the wikiteam discussion page. steph (COM) 17:44, 5 May 2007 (EDT)
[edit] developments on the wiki front
Go read my feedback of the day. :-) steph (COM) 13:32, 13 May 2007 (EDT)
[edit] UNIT 3
Can you email your entire Unit 3 paper and bibliography like right now? as a word attachment if possible, or rtf if not. steph at comm dot umass dot edu
