Hello, and welcome to UMassWiki!

We suggest you read the following pages to learn your way around the wiki:

If you're here because you're participating in a class that uses the wiki, these two pages are very important to read:

And welcome to Class:Section 71 - ENG 112 - Spring 2007! Don't forget to explore rest of the wiki as well. You're welcome to edit anything on the wiki -- not just pages for your class.

Important: Since you're going to be editing pages for your class, the following two articles are very important:

You need to understand how to make subpages so your stuff ends up in the right place. Aside from all that, if you just want a quick-start guide on things like how to make text bold or how to make line breaks between paragraphs, try this downloadable and printable Cheatsheet. Hello Atshekleton and welcome to the abominable course wiki! Let me know if you warm up to it over time. ;-) Don't neglect to read through the information and follow the links provided above (there might be an answer to what the == stuff is all about). I included the code for "Table of Contents" so you can copy it if/when you want. Also, don't forget to check out changes to the Homepage! steph (COM) 11:32, 18 February 2007 (EST)

You were supposed to. One bonus point for you! Tom didn't, but should I give him a point for messaging you?  :-)
Yes. Tom 19:07, 12 March 2007 (EDT)

[edit] Unit 2 Paper

Send it to my via email attachment, and tell me in the email: what it is you are trying to do, and - if you have a sense of where it breaks down, tell me that too. I'll get back to you asap, ok? steph (COM) 00:58, 10 April 2007 (EDT)

Second Reflection Letter - yes, it makes sense that you write it this afternoon after you see the comments on the rewrite.  :-) steph (COM) 11:19, 1 May 2007 (EDT)

[edit] Unit 3 Paper

You are absolutely right, Atshekleton, that quality is more important thatn quantity. And, it is also true that one must weed through some percentage of sheer quantity in order to discern what is quality; that was my motivation for the assignment. Most folks didn't raise this question so you're ahead of the curve. :-) steph (COM) 17:18, 18 April 2007 (EDT)

Hard Sources. Did you try newsjournal type searches? Or newspapers? The NYTimes has probably covered this issue. Same with Washington Post. Newsweek, Time. Harper's? Atlantic Monthly? The New Yorker? I don't know. What about state education reports? Federal education laws on funding? Remember if you find something online that was originally a print resource that does count as print. And, yes, of course the rewrite option always allows improvement in any area. Hope this helps? steph (COM) 15:48, 25 April 2007 (EDT)
Awesome. :-) Make sure you check Penguin for proper reference format in the bibliography. steph (COM) 09:27, 26 April 2007 (EDT)

[edit] Crunk

Crunk: a term used to describe the act of think-drinking; the opposite of drunk.

This is really just for Steph. :o) Tom 22:38, 19 February 2007 (EST)

...I thought crunk just meant crazy-drunk...Jchalek 11:32, 29 March 2007 (EDT)

[edit] cheatsheet

Now that's a cool extra link.  :-) And I see jchalek found you. He's cool, too. Now, what I want to know is how come you got links that go to empty pages? steph (COM) 20:16, 2 April 2007 (EDT)

Let me know when you do fix it, k?
How about a link to the cheatsheet you found on our home page? You could ask the wikieditors what they think about the idea... steph (COM) 14:22, 4 April 2007 (EDT)
I asked the editors. :-) steph (COM) 11:32, 5 April 2007 (EDT)
