[edit] Reflection Letter #2

Thomas Wilson Eng112 Sec 71 5/02/07 Reflection Letter #2

Tom,

As this is being written rather close to the end of the semester, there are many things that you must notice that you may not have during the course of the last month. First, your organization skills are improved by far, as well as your writing skills, insomuch as they relate to papers. Granted you haven’t worked on poetry, short stories, or various other kinds of writing, but what you have taken out of this class is certainly worth noting- that of research and argumentative papers. You are also most definitely a more reliable person now that you have completed certain tasks, and you are absolutely closer to attaining your goals of success than you were at the beginning of the semester.

However. There are always things that need to be worked out and sorted through, and you absolutely have your fair share of those. For example, time management has been a huge problem recently- this is one simple aspect of pure living that hopefully college will cure for you at one point. As it pertains to writing, the skills you need to develop center around the “convincing” principle. It just seems that, unless you really, really care about a subject, you don’t care whether or not people see it your way, just making the argument a lot less effective. So, with this in mind, your diction also needs work, as clearly seen through this confusing letter. You say things that could have been absolutely said better, but don’t change it if you can’t figure out what that is- perhaps it’s that you don’t try hard enough. But that’s another thing that time will tell you if it has improved or not- work effort. If it hasn’t at all then you have a long way to go. You already read about this with your first reflection letter so you know how important it is. Yet you have absolutely fixed something, changed for the better, and I wish you good luck on your future endeavors. Sincerely,

Tom Wilson

[edit] And Now? EVIDENCE!

Useful new information and charting of your progress. When I read your Final Reflection Letter, I’ll be looking for the supporting evidence and detail and expect to be convinced of your claim. :-)
