"The Numbing of the American Mind" Thomas de Zengotita (maybe?....)
What is reality to Americans? Is there really a concrete reality that we all have a common ground on? Is there even such a thing as "common ground"? I would like to further, deeper investigate Zengotita's claim that the fast-paced, moving culture of Americans numbs the existential reality involved outside our heads. I would like to determine if what I am doing with my life, namely making music, is a change in this pattern or is consistent with Zengotita's summary about music and finite patterns in general- is he correct? What else can I add/change about his article that will make it fit my thoughts/opinions? (More here)
Writing more about this article, in particular, would really help me to further dig into the identity problem that I have been dealing with, which will in turn change my thinking and give me the ability to see the real reality, perhaps like Zengotita's, perhaps not.
If I can't do that one, I briefly looked at "Why Lines Must Be Drawn: Stem Cells Present a Complex Moral Issue. Shame on Democrats for Polarizing It." by Charles Krauthammer.
