Dearest Adam, I read your paper, and let me just start by saying that it is both well written and also deserving of some praise in terms of your ability to deconstruct themes and symbolism and also apply these facets to experiences and feelings within your own life. I enjoyed your style of writing immensely, and I have no doubts about your future in our class. The first theme you picked up on was the theme of the wall, the inspiration for the title of the superbly successful CD and film, that Pink builds within his own mind to shield himself from the pain of real life and its emotions and hardships. However, not only do you recognize this theme but also profess your feelings about it and detail certain steps towards ridding yourself of this mental burden. This shows that you have two things; a skill at seeing the subtle and unsaid in the things around and often inside you, and also the ability to admit any flaws or weaknesses you might recognize within yourself and take action to better yourself. I admire this quality, and I envy your proficiency at it. The next thing your paper does well is go into specifics about the origin of each wall you speak of, Pink’s and your own. You realize with ease the details of Pink’s upbringing that lead to his withdrawal from society, and you also identify the facets of your own pre-college years that lead to this initial discomfort. This shows that at once, you are both critical and able to deduce the reasoning behind certain situations, and also that you are not afraid or ashamed to admit the reasoning behind your own. You are a well rounded individual, and it was a pleasure reading your paper. Signed amiably and concernedly, Andrew P Reynolds, esquire
