Writing is something that you progress in like anything else. Practice, and with time, one will get better at the craft they are pursuing. Writing is a craft, it takes skill, determination and patience for anyone who attempts to grasp a viewer. And only the few completely conquer the art of writing like Twain, Hemingway and Steph. When I first came to the class I knew I could do the work, but the question was how long could I work for. Now that push comes to shove, I am going to have to pick up my 'writing game'. I have always had a motivational problem, when it comes to work, but when the time comes and I actually have to writing it is easier for me to express myself when I am pressed, I work better under pressure. However, my writing in the beginning of the semester was more lackadaisical and half assed. And as you know a majority of work you did not receive in the beginning of the semester and I plan to change my work progress over the next few weeks. So for me instead of looking into the past and comparing it to the present I plan to see how my progress will be in the future as well. I plan to learn from my mistakes and use my time wisely, as I should. In the beginning of the semester I didn't really do that much work and was still on vacation. However, I hope to change my situation today and get all of my work done. Not only for this class, but in all of my general liberal arts classes I plan to change. Writing will always help me with everything I do. People don't realize how much writing, punctuation, grammar and description they use in everyday life. Writing is our way to communicate in a world of text messaging and emails and 'ims'. We, as a society, will always depend on communication through writing. I myself will have to improve on certain subjects in the writing arts. This craft I am still only an apprentice, who is learning for all types of masters. In writing it is key to be concise, descriptive and catch the eye of the reader. An author must put all three of these techniques and use them in the most powerful way. Personally I need to work on all three of these types of writing techniques for my future literary pieces. Show me the skills that improve in your next paper (Anzaldua) and (preparing for the Final Letter, keep track of all the skills over all of your papers so you can give me “weak” examples from the beginning and stronger examples to show specific proof that your writing has improved.

You can demonstrate the positive effect of time pressure by the quality of your writing now.  :-)

Give an example of “lackadaisical and half-assed” and then show (from Unit 2 on Anzaldua) an example of improvement.

What are the “mistakes”? Name them from the Unit 2 Anzaldua paper and compare with Unit 1 – did you continue to make the same kinds of mistakes? If so, which ones? Which mistakes did you correct? Did you find new ones?

I made the preceding statement bold because this is an example of your thinking that shows your mind-at-work in an intriguing way.

Absolutely! Show me, in Unit Two, how you manage to put these three together! Give examples of improvements (from Unit 1) in being concise, descriptive, and hooking readers.

This article I was interested in because it can apply to anyone. Everyone is always thinking about how they portray themselves and how poeople make opinions about them. The opinions could be good or it could be bad. Every person likes to describe themselves in writing, speech clothing or actions, it just comes down to how one describes his or herself. People are self conscious so this article could describe to me why. Maybe it could give me the answer of the true identity of a person. Paul 15:05, 29 March 2007 (EDT)
