How would you feel if you had the opportunity to become as rich as your
greediest dreams? A famous rock star? The first female President? Golden
opportunities seldom come. I believe that opportunities must be seized in order to be
successful in achieving your goals.
Opportunities appear everyday in our lives, you just have to find and claim them.
You should not wait and hope for opportunities to come to you, you should make
yourself available and go for them. I see opportunity all around me. As a single male,
walking down the street I may see a cute, yet mysterious girl. She succeeds in fulfilling
all of my qualifications, even though I am a picky person. Given the opportunity, I am
tested whether I am ready to seize this opportunity or not. If I am not ready, I walk by
nonchalantly and am just a dime a dozen to her. However if I choose to accept the
challenge, I may spark up a conversation and potentially have a new girlfriend. In a
different scenario, if I receive a bad grade for my “This I Believe” assignment, I will be
given the opportunity to rewrite my essay. Shall I choose to take this opportunity, I can
get a better grade on it and it can therefore raise my total grade for the class. If I pass this
up, I would receive the same poor grade and may even regret it later on. Opportunities,
big or small, don’t come too often. I think that it is important to take chances because
they usually end up beneficial. If you succeed, then you took an advantage of your
opportunity and came out of it with something. If you “fail,” then you still learn from
your mistakes and you won’t have to deal with any regret. If you are not ready for this
opportunity, the feeling of regret is far worse than actually accepting the challenge.
I believe that taking chances and going for your goals by opportunity is a very
good thing. It isn’t good to live life with regrets because then you have to deal with that
for the rest of your life and there’s nothing you can do to change it.
