This stuff is all from english 112, fall 2006. Kthx.

[edit] Introduction

Mike Martel is currently an undeclared freshman at the University of Massachusetts Amherst. Mike is a seventeen year old from the small town of Newburyport Massachusetts. His family includes his two parents, and he is the middle child of two brothers. Although undeclared, Mike is interested in pursuing a career as a secondary school math teacher. His quest to become the supplier of knowledge to tweenagers is derived from his love of both math and helping kids. One of Mike’s major pet peeves is when teachers let their students walk all over them and hopes that he does not let his seventh grade algebra students walk on him. Some of his interests include exploring nature, movies music and literature, and competing in sports. He also however has a greatest fear of becoming sterile, so he tends to stay away from playing catcher in baseball, or goalie in lacrosse. His favorite musical acts include, but are not limited to, Radiohead, Sublime, and Tool. Mike says, “I will listen to anything but country.” Sorry Garth. Mike was very adamant about letting the world know that his favorite movie is indeed “Milo and Otis,” along with other favorites like “only the first” “Matrix” and Eternal Sunshine o f the Spotless Mind.” To complete the media outlets list Mike’s favorite authors include Kurt Vonnegut, Terry Goodkind, and Madeline L’ Engle. Congratulations. If you're reading this, you've found the secret message. I appreciate that you're taking time to go through this entire paragraph. Now back to good ol' Mike! Mike has always been interested in becoming a minuteman and applied to very little other schools. His older brother is currently a Graduate student here at the University and was a major reason that Mike decided to attend Umass Amherst. Mike believes himself to be very moderate and has different viewpoints on different subjects. Although Mike does not have tons of experience in writing, he does dabble now and then in writing short stories, poems. Although he warns that these geniuses strike him very inconsistently and are few and far between. Mike hopes to develop his writing further in this class so that his poems and short stories may be a more frequent and skilled happening. Although Mike is not currently practicing a formal religion, he is quite spiritual and believes in “the faith of the universe.” When left to give one thing that he wished everyone in the living world could here, he said, “Everything in life is worth appreciating.” Simple advice from a complex man, Mike Martel.
