[edit] Response to Lincey's Introduction of Sharon

Lincey, I was happy to see that you didn’t write about me like I was crazy (even though I actually might be!). You were pretty good at inferring things about my life and personality through the very few things I revealed to you about my interests, family, and personal history. However, it was also interesting to see how some of the things I said appear to have been construed differently than what I had meant. For example, I talked about my mother working for the Washington Post, but she has only worked there for a few years and she works in the Arts department as a cartographer. In my introduction, though, it seemed as if her working at the foremost periodical in the DC area really affected my values and appreciation for politics. While my familial atmosphere did affect my interests, it was not because of my mother’s employment. Also, although my life experiences have affected the way I write, they do not really affect what I write about, as throughout my schooling career I have always been told what to write about. Unfortunately, I have not been able to write recreationally with any sort of frequency. You were able to uncover other things about my character that I did not state outright during our conversation. For instance, the fact that yoga helps me relax, and that my travels have enabled me to have a more broad global view. From talking to me only, you determined that I was laid back, except when it comes to politics, a subject I like to talk and debate about vehemently. Overall, I am satisfied with the way in which I have portrayed myself to you, and now the rest of the class. With only a few minor glitches, this introduction is an accurate display of who I am. Thanks! -SharonC 14:55, 19 September 2006 (EDT)
