[edit] An Introduction to Lincey
Our paths crossed by random chance; we both chose number two! Her name is Lincey Qi, she is a freshman at the University of Massachusetts Amherst (duh) and lives in John Adams in Southwest, which might conflict with her self described “slow paced” lifestyle and early bedtime. Lincey was born in Boston, Massachusetts and moved to Hong Kong, China when she was in second grade. Although she liked Hong Kong for some reasons (food, family), Lincey disapproves of their pollution problem and finds the lifestyle too fast-paced for her liking. When she was in tenth grade she moved to California to live with a host family. Initially, I assumed the host family situation would be difficult, but Lincey liked it! This year she moved back to the east coast to attend UMass. Her ability to adapt to new things really shines through in the way she speaks about her life. She is also an avid traveler, having traveled to Dubai, Australia, Korea, Guam and a few other south Asian countries. Lincey has fairly mainstream music interests and describes “R&B and pop music” among her favorite genres. More uncommon though, is her favorite artist, Jay, a Taiwanese singer. She likes pretty much all film genres and enjoys shopping, hanging out with her friends, and television (specifically Asian dramas). She likes to read, but not too much and her favorite books are the Harry Potter series by J. K. Rowling. Lincey’s political beliefs are relatively neutral and her spiritual beliefs are more or less agnostic. She is quite the cosmopolitan person, as she has traveled widely and appreciates the cuisines of France, Italy, Japan, Korea and China. However diverse her pallet though, her favorite foods are ice cream and chocolate chip cookies. She is excited about this year’s writing class and says she is not particularly good at expressing her feelings in writing. She also says she has trouble developing ideas and putting them on paper. However, her strengths include writing her opinion, her ability to structuralize her papers and her knowledge of grammar and usage. She hopes this year will be great! --SharonC 15:17, 14 September 2006 (EDT)
