UMass Phone Slave
From UMassWiki
The UMass Phone Slave is a longstanding mystery within the UMass community. He calls female students, sometimes at unlisted numbers, and offers to be their "slave" for the weekend, or similar such promises. Often the pretext for the calls is a Psychology Department survey or some sort of class project. He may call repeatedly.
Under the Massachusetts General Code, Chapter 269, Section 14A, this is considered telephone harassment. The generally accepted definition of unwanted telephone calls is three calls or more once the caller has been told to stop.
| “ | Whoever telephones another person, or causes any person to be telephoned, repeatedly, for the sole purpose of harassing, annoying or molesting such person or his family, whether or not conversation ensues, or whoever telephones a person repeatedly, and uses indecent or obscene language to such person, shall be punished by a fine of not more than five hundred dollars or by imprisonment for not more than three months, or both. | „ |
