The Townehouses of Amherst, managed by TMA and Kamins real estate are owned separately. Although there are many landlords, business is done through the townhouse office. Rent is relatively inexpensive, however some units are more rundown than others. Overall the townhouses aren't a bad place to rent from however the office can be frustrating to deal with. There are two women who work there, Cathy is by far the less competent. She barely understands the operation of the business and has terrible people skills. If possible try to talk with the other one when you have an issue. One thing to be careful with when living there is to avoid them nickel and diming you. Parking is a big issue, they have some connection with Ernie's Towing and will tow any opportunity they get. This includes residents with valid stickers who happen to be parked where they are trying to plow. Just be weary that management doesn't try to appeal to its residents. Advantages of the townhouses include close proximity to Cumberland Farms, Post office, Big Guy's Liquors, the Harp and Watroba's Market. It is also right on the Sunderland/South Amherst PVTA bus line and close enough to the North Amherst/Old Belchertown Rd. stop.
The Townhouse of Amherst Apartments, otherwise known as The Townhouses, is a large apartment complex in Amherst adjacent to Brandywine. It is located on Meadow Street near the intersection with North Pleasant Street. It is also very close to Puffton Village. Like some of the other apartment complexes as well as Hobart Lane, the Townhouses are developing a reputation for occasional large and boisterous parties which involve large portions of the complex (and sometimes the entire area).

It is also full of cockroaches and charges a thousand dollars for rent to live with them. Management is rude and your mail gets stolen. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Darcie (talk • contribs) .
I'm an alum from the 70's and I had 2 kids go to UMass. They both lived at Townehouse (consecutively) for 5 years and had no major problems. That was 3 years ago. It was convenient to campus, fairly well maintained, and the rents were comparable to other complexes we researched. They certainly had no cockroaches either! When we visited, it seemed like a "typical" college-town apartment complex. The road/paving was horrible, but one of my kids visited a friend there awhile back and he said the whole place has been repaved.
