The Spoke
From UMassWiki
The Spoke is a bar in downtown Amherst, located in the vicinity of The Pub, Charlie's, and Bertucci's. It features the $2 "Drink of the Week," outdoor seating (seasonal), and typically smaller crowds than are found at the other bars, particularly those closer to the Commons.
They sell their own t-shirts, which read on the front, "What happens here, stays here." Previously, the shirts read, "Service with a grunt since 1984," which is the Spoke's motto.
[edit] Drinks
The Spoke is renowned by patrons for its inexpensive drinks. An example of this is the Pabst Blue Ribbon, which costs $1.75. Also, the $2 "Drink of the Week," which actually tends to change every couple months, and the $5 pitchers of Bud Light. Other drinks, though, cost approximately what they would at other local bars. Guinness, for example, runs $3.50 (though some bartenders charge $4).
[edit] Special Nights
The Spoke has a few special nights. Monday features free pool between the hours of 6pm and 10pm. Tuesday has a raffle drawing at midnight. The tickets for the drawings are acquired with each drink purchased. Prizes on Raffle Night are usually comic, including items such as super glue, lanyards, home BINGO games, and the like.
