Rideshare

From UMassWiki

Jump to: navigation, search

The UMass Rideshare program was created for commuters to find carpools to UMass. The benefits of participating in the rideshare program as a commuting faculty member or off-campus student are reducing the commuter traffic on campus, improving the air quality in the region, and reducing the costs of parking for each commuter.

By using Rideshare as opposed to privately-organized carpools, commuters are guaranteed a ride in emergency situations through the "Guaranteed Ride Home" program. In the event of an emergency like an illness at work or some emergency situation that forces the carpool driver to leave early. However, these rides are only guaranteed within daytime business hours, between 8:30 and 4:30, and limited to a half-hour radius from campus.
