Pioneer Valley Transit Authority provides bus service in the Pioneer Valley. Many of these buses run through UMass and are free for five college students. These buses provide access to nearby town such as Belchertown, Sunderland, Hadley and Northampton, as well as service all over Amherst. For non-students, bus fare is $1. In addition to local routes for students, PVTA provides extensive service throughout Hampshire and Franklin counties. All UMass Transit buses are driven by UMass students.
