Office of Information Technologies
From UMassWiki
The Office of Information Technologies (OIT) provides a variety of information technology services to UMass Amherst. Some of the most obvious include basic wired Internet connectivity to dorms and office, wireless Internet connectivity through large portions of campus, email (UMail), the OIT Help Desk, and computer labs across campus and in the Learning Commons.
OIT also provides students with space for personal web sites. They traditionally were known for running OITunix, a unix shell account system, but that has been phased out, and replaced by webadmin.oit.umass.edu and the UDrive file storage system.
As of Fall 2007 OIT now offers a blogging service powered by the Wordpress blogging software.
OIT oversee the administration of SPIRE a service for class registration and bill management.
OIT administer the SPARK Learning Management System for delivery of course content and class activities via the web.
If you need help with any computer- or Internet-related issue, the OIT Help Desk is available for you.
