Hillel

Hillel is a Jewish student group and community with its own building just off campus at 388 North Pleasant Street. According to the group's web site, approximately 70% of the 3,000 Jewish students at UMass participate in some way.

[edit] Shabbat
- Services are held every Friday Night during the school year. First, everyone is together for a welcoming and Yedid Nefesh. Then, the services are split between Reform Chavurah, Koach (Conservative), and Kehillat Hillel Ha'azinu (Modern Orthodox). At times throughout the year there are non-denominational alternative services.
- After services all the groups come back together for a free shabbat meal which is provided by way of community donations.
- Saturday Morning services are held by Kehillat Hillel Ha'azinu (Modern Orthodox).
- There is also a Shabbat lunch and third meal provided by Kehillat Hillel Ha'azinu.
[edit] Beit Cafe
- Beit Cafe is a monthly coffee house/social event at Hillel. It includes free snacks and coffee with entertainment. Some past events include: Track 5 Hillel House Band, Dynamics A Capella Group, Kolot A Capella Group, Mission: Improvable, and many more.

- One-credit classes are held during the semester. They are taught by Hillel Staff. See a list.
[edit] Birthright: Israel
- Hillel offers free trips to Israel as part of the Birthright: Israel program. Participants must be Jewish, between the ages of 18-26, and cannot have been on a peer-group trip to Israel before. More information.

- Students can live in singles or doubles on the second floor of the Hillel House. More information.
