Critical Mass
From UMassWiki
Critical Mass is an event where bike riders ride through the streets of an area for fun and to further a political cause. There are hundreds of independent rides throughout the United States and the world. On the UMass campus, they have been organized by members of the Radical Student Union with collaboration from a variety of area organizations and individuals. Their primary goal is to organize bike-rides that block the streets, so as to make them temporarily unusable by cars. Although disruptive, this has proved to be a legal way to bring attention to plight of bicycles on roads typically dominated by cars. While an aboveground group, their activities are occasionally mired by law enforcement conflict.
If you have a bike and wish to partake on one of their rides, look for flyers attached to bikes, or email the UMass Radical Student Union at RSU@stuaf.umass.edu.
