This is a first-come, first-served activity.
This activity will bring you in contact with the coursewiki currently being produced by a section of ENG112: College Writing. With a partner select one of the following statements, described as "Prelude Sentences." Without following through on any links (yet), discuss and select the single statement that intrigues you the most. Verify with your teacher that this particular statement is still available before you continue!
- After your choice is approved by the teacher, and
- still before you click through on the link embedded in your sentence,
- discuss with your partner why the statement intrigues you and what you think you are going to find.
- Email your explanation to your teacher.

Please click through on your approved Prelude Statement.
- Ignore grammar and focus on the a) ideas, b) organization, and c) rhetorical strategies of the biographical statement. Discuss these three areas with your teammate and generate a brief statement of constructive feedback to the author. Include at least one strength and one area for improvement in each of these three areas.
- Finally, explain the evidence in the biographical statement that supports or lends itself to the Prelude Statement. In particular, what relationship(s) do you perceive between the Prelude Statement and the writing which it introduces?
Procedure: construct your answer in a Word document and save it. Email your (collaborative) answer to your teacher.
