criteria for evaluation

Not to preempt the Evaluation Team, but there ARE and WILL BE "expectations" which will guide grading calculations. I need to be able to assess (at a minimum) that you've learned something about the key terms in the Course Description (which was handed out on Day 1 and posted in the Coursewiki for reference). Because the class is on the dynamics of groups, you will be expected to

  1. demonstrate knowledge about the key terms in relation to other key terms and
  2. illustrate the interrelationships with specific examples from our class (some of which are documented).

contribution

The measure under discussion by the Evaluation Team is contribution. This is the term they posed for self-evaluation during the last class.

Image:Self-eval question of the day.jpg

Self-scoring ranged from 2-4 on the rubric established since the beginning of class, between "ok" and "Great!" (Honest self-evaluation is appreciated - and noted.) Activities cited as evidence include (in no particular order or hierarchy):

  • volunteering to type up the proposal/do a report
  • engaging in the class
  • getting excited about the wiki
  • participating
  • articulating my personal ideas
  • changing my ideas to fit better with others' ideas
  • initiating tasks that need to be accomplished
  • working together outside of class
  • coordinating schedules/trips for my team/working group
  • finalizing results of brainstorms
  • pitching ideas to the class
  • writing on the board
  • organizing group discussion
  • asking Steph about limits and possibilities of technology and process
  • bringing up ideas
  • discussing how to link ideas with other groups' ideas
  • writing notes of discussions
  • reading/sharing discussion notes with others
  • suggesting things
  • listening to others
  • presenting particular/specific ideas
  • facilitating
  • helping to brainstorm
  • suggesting the use of pictures/graphics
  • trying to think of ways to incorporate all of our opinions and strategies
  • making this page possible with all of us being happy
  • imagining informative and interesting content
  • working together
  • agreeing
  • laying out a structure of how to get things accomplished
  • talking about what seems feasible to do
  • adding interesting points about process
  • listing a concrete skill to bring to the group
  • adding input to my team/working group
  • anticipating a heavy responsibility for the group's success
  • claiming to contribute more in the future
  • coming with stereotypes to squash
  • deciding what not to focus on
  • pushing for a particular idea
  • knowing I could have stood with others to help
  • working collectively with my group
  • engaging in discussion of how to accomplish our task
