Self-Oriented (emotional) Behavior

First Report (Class #5)
initial report
Hi, here is my section for the caramel group...
The nature of our group’s category (emotional issues) made it difficult to observe certain behaviors explicitly, as it is hard to see a clear motive from observation alone. Also, we might not necessarily see any of these behaviors, which make it even more difficult. When observing the 1st fishbowl (I was in the second,) I had a hard time recognizing any of the actions outlined by Schein in the article. The only thing I noted was that certain individuals spoke louder than others. If I were to link this behavior with what we have studied in the packet, I would say this could possibly be an act of attempted power, control and influence. Certainly speaking loudly could be considered as a means to assert dominance, if intended that way, which it may have not in this situation. This considered, I don’t think that was the intention, and all members of the group contributed equally and were respectful of each other. I saw no clear instances of “emotional issues†during the dialogue.
claritication
I just wanted to be a little more clear about my last email. The explanation I sent was the consensus with our group members, but I hadn't added the second part. My apologies, the second part goes as follows and was another collaboration from a group member, just to make sure you get both.
second part
When observing the second fishbowl (I was in the first one), I wasn't able to detect any explicit "selfish" behavior so I don't really have much to report. To me, the group seemed to be functioning relatively normally, despite these awkward scenarios Steph likes to impose upon us.
