Thanks to the COM352 students for contributing a bunch of new pages! I'll be moving these pages into the main area of the wiki soon.

Kelley suggests "sympathy points"
The debate is on concerning Apology Points! Michelle got things started, and Kelley has now weighed in - way to go! This chance is for baseline points if Penguin hasn't earned you enough (if you have had absences and/or not done homeworks then you do have more points to make up than Penguin alone).
- Background - You know I regret that we haven't laughed together more. I think enjoying our learning processes together matters just as much as the subject matter. This is the reason I have taken up Dan's idea of "Apology Points." BUT - I'm going to push you further into the public sphere: my weblog. It is extra credit, not required, and I suppose if you are desperate for these points and want to write privately just to me you can do that, but I would ask, then, for you to also explain why you don't want to make your rhetorical strategy public and available to future students of mine? (Not to mention whosoever else finds and reads.)
- DIRECTIONS: Go to the Apology Points link, read Steph (and other teacher's) challenges, and respond with the full powers of logos, ethos, and pathos. I suggest you write first in your own wordprocessing program, then return to the blogpost, click "comment", (sign-in if you think you might EVER want to post there again - which you know I will welcome!), paste your comment in, and click send. If you don't do the "sign in" thing then your comment will not show up until I "approve" it. Clear? If not, ask! steph (COM) 15:30, 3 May 2007 (EDT)
Dan's riff
Steph tries to get a lot out of her students without giving much in return. Her broad questions leave the students fumbling in the dark. A few students will find the door but most of them will end up stuck in a corner. (EXTRA CREDIT) Dan 13:57, 2 May 2007 (EDT)
- Are you "finding the door" or "stuck in a corner?" What is your take on the class? Post your opinions here.
- I'll give two points to anyone who now offers an additional critique of the class. I know there are more dissatisfactions. Are they illegitimate if one considers the point of education? Or are there criticisms that would help Steph become a better teacher and demonstrate what a good writer you've become? :-) steph (COM) 00:20, 6 May 2007 (EDT)
A door or a deadend?
Dan busts Steph (not quite as eloquently as he did in class, but close). Folks respond. Are there no other critiques?

Plagiarism
I have no reason to be concerned about any of you, and I hope this does not change. However, as the end-of-semester approaches and academic pressures increase, the temptation to find an (ostensibly) easier way out might cross your mind. RESIST! Please read the Plagiarism Policy, noting especially that "unintentional plagiarism is still plagiarism." steph (COM) 14:22, 20 April 2007 (EDT)

Learning and Teaching
The crucial work of this course revolves around the relationship between writing and thinking, thinking and writing: in essence, learning (better) how to learn (more). Alongside the four required writing units, we built a conversation about pedagogy.

Anonymous Feedback
How is this class proceeding? Students wrote informal feedback on the tenth day of class in response to two questions, What isn't working? and What is working?
- We persist in order to build this feedback into an actual conversation.
Individual Reflections on Improving as a Writer
Students write reflections on what they learn about their writing at regular intervals throughout the course.
