I'm trying to develop a generic "opt-out" plan for those of you who are uncomfortable posting your work in the public space of the wiki. My pedagogic style is to respond "in-the-moment," (because real situations usually have variables that can't be anticipated) but it could be that not including the specific language (somewhere) that "alternative accommodations" will be made is a potential legal liability concerning your right to privacy (FERPA). (In other words, my repeated statements - verbal and written - that you don't have to and I can't force you and won't punish you, etcetera, may be insufficient in and of themselves.
Of course, you'd still be accountable for reading and commenting (in class, or via other written means) on activities in the wiki...do any of you have ideas about how to make your experience equitable with other students if you did not post? Does anyone want to experiment with figuring this out? :-) steph (COM) 11:59, 10 October 2006 (EDT)
