In-Class Activities
Are you prepared for Test #9 on the functional roles of group members?
Peer Evaluations of each teammember of all (both) the new subgroups.
Turn in Homework due:
- 5. Make a list of the specific roles you believe you play in both of your current subgroups. Name as many as apply. I assume that the lists will be similar in each group but not exactly the same. Be precise! Bring your two lists to class.
Turn in outstanding (late but extended until today) completion of Test 8.
Read on rumors and real life.
Convene in Teams for Presentations. Draw on board a schematic of your proposal, similar to the one Steph drew when illustrating the importance of links in order to
- a) avoid plagiarism and even a hint of plagiarism and (notice especially that these links take you to grading criteria and information accrued relevant to self-and-peer evaluations) and
- b) provide significant and substantial material in your team's area.
Fishbowl M (the third in our consensus-seeking series for the course wiki/web project). No repeats from Fishbowl K or Fishbowl J. Task of "M" - refine/further the work of "K" which built upon the work of "J."
Finally (!), Fishbowl L with John Elder Robison! Volunteers, please. We will add a new twist, after ten minutes, if you want to join the conversation, tap a current "fish" on the shoulder to leave. You decide who to bump. Monitor the time yourself! After the first ten minutes, "new fish" can bump "current fish" at any time.
Homework
Next class will be in the lab and we will be building the wiki. START BUILDING NOW. See the wikimedia guide for dummies and TAKE ADVANTAGE of Steph's extended office hours tomorrow (Tuesday, 15 April) and by appointment. Steph will also hold extended office hours next Tuesday and Thursday (we have no class on Monday). Two rules:
- Don't screw up the wiki! Be sure to work from your own USER PAGE (as a "sandbox" - we will move stuff later) and every time you start a new page use the / command. Painful, excruciating, slow wiki-death by torture will occur if you screw this up! (Not really, but it will be a hassle to clean up, so try to remember.)
- POST EVERYTHING YOU HAVE BEFORE CLASS BEGINS on Monday 28 April! (I guarantee that if you wait until the last minute whatever you have and/or can get done will be inadequate.)
